As soon as we got word that the DEA was ready to ban kratom any day now (they may already have by the time you are reading this), we started doing reseach into finding proven, all-natural kratom alternatives. We found and tried dozens of different products and are pleased to say we were able to find a number of them that work as a reasonable substitute for kratom.
The two best ones we found are “Mitragyna Hirsuta” and “Mitragyna Javanica” from the same region of the world as the kratom plant – Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. We cannot recommend you use these substances in any other way than indicated by the packaging, but they have been proven to be viable alternatives to kratom in most applications. Most of these plants are always labeled as “not for human consumption” so please use with extreme care.
Mitragyna hirsuta is a tall tree found in parts of Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. It’s closely related to Mitragyna speciosa and the leaves have similar paradoxical effects: both stimulating and sedative at the same time.
In Thailand it’s called kra thum khok and the leaves are chewed, sometimes together with betel nuts (Areca catechu), or brewed with hot water. The plant contains a number of alkaloids but the main active constituent in Mitragyna hirsuta is Mitraphylline, which is chemically related to mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine found in M. speciosa.
The effects of Mitragyna Hirsuta and Mitragyna Javanica are simultaneously stimulating and sedating, noticeable quite quickly and lasting up to several hours. These are similar to the effects of kratom and have been noted to provide the same benefits and side effects of kratom.
