Why Everyone’s Vaping CBD

Chief Smoke 'n Brew

Okay, maybe not everyone.Either way, CBD vaporizers are becoming increasingly popular for a number of reasons. They’re one of the most portable CBD delivery methods around, and one of the most efficient to boot. Here’s some reasons you might want to consider a CBD vaporizer:

Let’s be honest: it isn’t always easy or convenient to use a CBD tincture. You don’t really want to carry a glass bottle in your pocket everywhere you go, and it’s a bad scene if you drop it and shatter it on the floor. Not to mention those droppers can be a real pain to use in public.

Everyone knows about CBD these days, but you’ll probably still get some looks if you’re measuring out drops at a work lunch. There’s really no reason to hide CBD, but being the CBD guy is about as annoying as being the grandchild who works in IT at Christmas—sometimes you just want to relax without answering a million questions, you know?

Vaporizers are a convenient, easy to carry, and relatively discrete solution that allows you to have CBD with you everywhere (just don’t vape in airplane bathrooms, that’s a big no-no). Many establishments allow vaping indoors, and if they don’t it’s just as easy as stepping outside for an average smoke break to get a dose of CBD without any weird looks or questions asked.

Vaporizers work by heating CBD-infused oils or raw hemp flower to just below their combustion point, releasing cannabinoids into a vapor without the carcinogens associated with traditional smoking. Vaporizers are generally seen as safer than smoking by experts including CBD: A Patient’s Guide to Medicinal Cannabis authors Leonard Leinow and Juliana Birnbaum.

Using a vaporizer also yields higher bioavailability—the amount of cannabinoids that reach the bloodstream—than digesting oils. Vapor is inhaled directly into the lungs and therefore hits the bloodstream almost instantaneously. CBD entering your system through the digestive system, on the other hand, can take up to 40 minutes to take effect. Those digested cannabinoids also are damaged or destroyed by stomach acid, leading to lower bioavailability.

Flavor Variety

There are some picky palates out there. CBD tinctures often come with a strong plant taste that some people don’t love. Vaporizers present a much better option than avoiding CBD all together. Vape oils are built for every set of taste buds, from fruity strawberry accents to smoother vanilla and caramel flavors.

What to do with all of those vape cartridges? Many cartridges or entire pens are meant to be thrown out or recycled when you’re done with them. It’s easy to pitch a spent cartridge and pop a new one in on the go. Other devices do allow for refilling cartridges, but it’s more of a personal preference and matter of convenience. Those cheap throw-away pens are ideal you are prone to losing things, while a more expensive vaporizer will let you fine-tune everything right up to the temperature it vaporizes oils at so you get the exact experience you want.
